Just hold one end and stretch the other back like a slingshot (I'd draw about 12" - 18" past my ear). Then realized it was pretty darned accurate and hit hard enough, so I tried it on flies. I first used it to snap those little green toy soldiers off my dresser. One of the pieces just happened to be around 35 - 40" long. After numerous flights, the band snapped, either due to fatigue or overwinding.

The original band went from a hook behind the nose, to a hook near the tail, and was a triple stranded loop. a broken band from one of those large (3-4 feet long), rubberband wound propeller toy planes.īasically a flat black rubberband, that was approximately 1/4" wide, maybe 1/16" thick and about 40" long. Fun as these are (especially for a firearms enthusiasts forum), guess what I've used 40 years ago to kill landed bugs with good effect (possible to kill bugs in flight, but really difficult)?
